China's Marine Literacy: Concept, System and Logical Evolution |

Abstract China's marine literacy refers to the sum of knowledge, values, necessary characters and key abilities related to the ocean that are formed in daily life, reflect the characteristics of China's development, and meet the needs of personal and social development. The construction of China's marine literacy system should meet the actual needs of the Chinese people and the development of China's marine industry, break through the single natural science limitations of the “seven principles” of European and American marine literacy, and fully consider the social, human, scientific and ecological attributes of the ocean. China's marine literacy includes four dimensions: social participation, humanistic feelings, scientific exploration and ecological mutual sharing, which are manifested in 12 qualities, such as the consciousness of sovereignty, marine society, rule of law thinking, cultural and historical heritage, Hyde forging, thick cultivation of sea beauty, scientific spirit, exploration of the ocean, diligent practice, symbiosis between human and sea, resource protection, and marine environment, and 24 specific forms have been formed. The evolution of China's marine literacy system embodies three logics: one is the logic of national promotion; the other is the logic of curriculum promotion; the third is the logic of activity promotion. In the process of promoting marine education, universities, middle schools, primary schools, and social organizations should focus on cultivating China's marine literacy, take “harmonious development of the sea of people” as the value orientation, and form a complete closed loop of the interaction between goals, processes, evaluation, and benefits.
