Abstract:As an important perspective on community governance research, space is the dynamics of transitional community’s development and explains the dilemma of its governance. With China’s urbanization, spatial reconstruction of transitional community comes to be a core variable of its governance structure, governance resources and public interests. Transitional community’s spatial reconstruction in Shenzhen has three patterns including urban renewal, integrated renovation and community planning, with different influence and efficacy on community governance: urban renewal uses market mechanism to expand resources of community governance and improve public environment but to increase social exclusion of low-income group and negative externalities of the city’s development; integrated renovation uses the resources of government and market to improve public environment and relieve the severe impact on survival space of immigrants, but it’s lack of public participation; Compared with the former two, community planning pays more attention to public participation and protection for multiple groups’interests but it’s difficult to implement due to the lack of institutional support. Therefore, with reflection on the practice of transitional community’s spatial reconstruction, we should build a sound spatial institution in accordance with transitional community’s governance, execute comprehensive strategies on its governance and develop a fair public policy oriented by good governance.
