Abstract:"Liyue (rites-music) Culture" , comprising of "lijiao ( propriety education )" , "yujiao ( music education )" , and "shijiao (poetry education)" , is a major characteristic of Chinese culture. With "yue (music)" to advocate "li (propriety)" , and with "shi (poetry)" to spread "jiao (Confucian teaching) " , "Liyu Culture" contributed to the boom of Chinese verse literature. "shi" and "yue" are the important medium for literary individuals to adjust their state of mind to bring it back to "mingde (original state of human mind) " , and nurture the gentleman personality. People attempted to get to the ideal moral state of "li" through the artistic form of "yue" , which kept the ancient "Liyue Culture" prosperous, and was also the internal reason that made Chinese verse literature a unique literary form worldwide. The verse literature, a perfect blend of content (ideas, scenes, emotion, taste, etc.) and rhythmic qualities of language (like rhyme scheme and tones), is a musical and singable form of literature. It mainly includes Shi (poetry), Ci, and Qu. For a long time, the study of verse literature narrowlly defined "Qu" as Yuan Sanqu (Qingqu), but excluded dramas represented by Yuan Drama and legends of Ming and Qing Dynasties, which damaged the completeness of Chinese verse literature. The legends of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, on which many Kunqu scripts were based, were not only the final glory, but also the ultimate paradigm of Chinese Qu literature, and the masterpiece in the late period of Chinese ancient verse literature.
