| New Changes in the Rules of International Direct Investment and the Consequent Influence and Challenges to BRICs |

Abstract Following the outbreak of the financial crisis, great changes have taken place in the world economy. With the rapid increase of the overseas investment of the BRICs, the core regions leading the world economy are shifting from the developed countries to the emerging economies with the BRICs as representatives. Meanwhile, the Western countries generally believe the common features of the BRICs’ international companies are that the government plays an important role in business operation, and that many large state-controlled enterprises have sprung up in some industries of strategic importance. These so called “state-controlled entities” have become a dynamic force in international direct investment, obviously demonstrating strong intent to seek asset in M & A in developed markets. With the rapid development of the BRICs’ foreign acquisition, many developed countries start to adopt new policies and measures to restrain the overseas direct investment dominated by the state-controlled international companies of the BRICs. The BRICs will face big challenges in the next round of rulemaking for international trade and economy.
