Abstract:The “Culture+” discipline refers to a highly integrated interdisciplinary field that takes culture as both its fundamental point of departure and ultimate value orientation. Focusing on the entire process of cultural value realization and the complex cultural issues emerging in practice, it comprehensively employs methodologies from the humanities, social sciences, and even technological sciences to investigate the generation, dissemination, transformation, and governance of cultural resources, as well as their interactions with related fields. It embodies a new mode of knowledge production characterized by problem orientation, cultural centrality, and interdisciplinary integration, aiming to respond to practical cultural issues while developing research frameworks, analytical tools, and talent cultivation systems suited to contemporary demands. Although “Culture+” disciplines have reached a certain scale and achieved notable progress, they still face structural problems such as ambiguous disciplinary affiliation, fragmented theoretical systems, and insufficient policy support. As a result, their development has long exhibited characteristics of fragmentation and subordination. The key to overcoming these difficulties lies in moving from dispersed disciplinary arrangements toward institutionalized construction by establishing “Culture and Cultural Industries” as a first-level discipline within the category of interdisciplinary studies. Specifically, this requires constructing an institutional framework to legitimize the discipline of Culture and Cultural Industries, establishing a disciplinary logic centered on the creative transformation and innovative development of cultural resources, and forming an independent system of disciplinary consciousness, research methods, and problem orientation. Its core research areas should include public cultural services, cultural industry development, cultural market operation, cultural technology integration, cultural communication, and cultural governance. Discipline construction should further focus on mechanisms of cultural value generation, realization, dissemination, and governance, while developing key directions such as cultural resource development and preservation, cultural industry operation and management, digital culture and cultural technology integration, and cultural communication and governance. By upholding a humanistic core, innovating management and evaluation systems, and emphasizing the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents, the integrated development of “Culture+” disciplines can be advanced, thereby contributing to the construction of a culturally strong nation.
