| Causal-theoretical Functionalism and Its Physicalist Argument |

Abstract Functionalism dominates contemporary philosophy of mind. Causal-theoretical functionalism is influential in functionalism. Causal-theoretical functionalism tries to expound the nature of mind and its relation with the physical world by the concept of “causal role”, and makes the functional definition of psychological predicates with Ramsey-Lewis method. Drawing on the Turing machine theory, Kim and others try to clarify that functionalism is ontological physicalism, but are greatly challenged by the “Chinese room ” argument.
