Abstract Beloved is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison. Most of the critics of Beloved are concerned with race, gender and culture at home or abroad, but this paper focuses on the Biblical motif.?The Holy Bible is a canonical collection of texts sacred in Judaism and Christianity, and is one of the important sources of western culture and Morrison's works. This paper analyzes the Biblical motif in Beloved from the following aspects: the setting, the development of the main plot and the love theme, in order to supply a thorough explanation of the novel's feature. In addition, this paper is a good supplemental study for the novel Beloved.
