Abstract：The narratives of ancient buildings are an important part of our cultural heritage. They have important cultural functions. They record the social situation and environmental condition when the buildings were constructed, and reflect the authors’ emotions, values, outlook on life, represent the ideas of the time. Besides, they breathe life into the buildings, giving them a soul and character, and making them elegant and artistic. They are not only literary works, but also part of the cultural industry creating added values. They suggest us that the cultural industry requires great literary masters. Following the tradition of writing narratives for buildings helps maintain traditional Chinese culture, encourage the writers themselves, recover the history consciousness and “the Three Immortalities” valued by Chinese traditions, and rebuild a culture which has great esteem for literature.
